It’s the dress code rule that makes The Met Gala into such a thrilling event and this year’s celebrated designer is Comme de Garçons Japanese creator Rei Kawakubo. The designer and the brand score a second only celebration for the Met Gala of a living muse, after designer Yves Saint Laurent in 1983.
Rei Kawakubo’s works from Comme de Garcons were quite a sight on celebrities like Sofia Sanchez and Rihanna. Sofia’s outfit is a combination of shorts and a high-neck crop top, both being heavily embroidered and styled in an add-on top manner, ultimately looking deconstructed and avant-garde, but still looking red-carpet appropriate.
Rihanna went for flowers, red and pink. Her two-piece outfit is an overlapping of multiple flower-shaped pieces, built to look sort of messy and confusing. The skirt has on both sides attached similar cut-out shield-shaped pieces. The singer finished her look with sky-high strappy heels.
