Alexis Mabille Skips Classic Fashion Display, Assembles Couture Collection Into Exhibition Mode

Alexis Mabille skipped the classic fashion display and assembled its Couture collection for Fall-Winter 2018 into an exhibition, in parallel working a video presentation acting as a fashion show, in which the designer showcased its entire collection in the absence of an audience.

There’s only a handful of elements building this collection, yet the result is stunning, precisely thanks to how the designer worked with so little. The fabrics and colors are great but greater are the shape and style. Dense ruffles, embroidery and magnificent sleeves are used for making the long silhouettes look highly sophisticated.

Karl Lagerfeld presents Chanel Couture Collection under Eiffel Tower Replica

At the Grand Palais in Paris, on July 5, the atmosphere in the enormous stage had already been set before the defile by Karl Lagerfeld’s decision to present Chanel’s Couture collection in a very Parisian manner, and for that, he placed deck chairs in the shadow of an Eiffel Tower replica, lightly clouded at the top. The first sight of Couture started on Mario Batkovic’s ‘Restrictus’, who set the tone for the music that played throughout the show.

Looking at the clothes, I get a Merry Poppins feel, starting from the very first outfit. The hats, the shoes and the shape of the clothes, all send you on a playful journey that’s meant to be a secret, camouflaged by a rather serious attitude, especially given the lack of details that’s dominating the beginning of the show. Even after that, there’s an abstinence that’s happening, compensated only by feathers placed in the least expected places and big flowers playing out as pampered hems. Sleeves and high boots receive the same treatment, a manner that creates quite an image. Sparkling fabrics suddenly change the mood set at the beginning and with that the collection triumphs into the elegant and highly sophisticated Chanel garment.

The front row meant names like Kristen Stewart, Julian Moore, Kaya Scodelario (finally!), Nana Komatsu, Tilda Swinton and many other. After the show, Karl Lagerfeld received the Medaille Vermeille de la Ville de Paris by the city mayor, Anne Hidalgo.

The city of Paris is once again hosting Fashion Week, moving from Men’s, which happened not long ago, to Couture collections for Fall-Winter 2018. So far Ronald Van Der Kemp and Proenza Schouler have checked in with their collections and the first day of Paris Couture Week continues its narrative with exciting labels to watch, such as Rodarte, Galia Lahav and Guo Pei.

Monday, the second day of Couture Week, starts with Schiaparelli and continues with Georges Hobeika, Christian Dior, Ralph & Russo and few other more. Tuesday is just as packed with big names, with Chanel having the honor to display its Couture craft at the beginning of the schedule, followed by Ulyana Sergeenko, Giorgio Armani and Alexandre Vauthier.

Maison Margiela is set to be the first label to showcase on Wednesday and the day continues with Ellie Saab, Jean Paul Gaultier, Viktor & Rolf and Zuhair Murad. Fendi is displaying at the end and the few hour break that’s happening after Valentino’s show provides everyone with enough time to have a moment after such an abundant day.

Thursday is all about the Couture jewelry. The full schedule is available here.

Iris Van Herpen SS 2017 Couture Show Had Diagonal Heels and Sexy Futuristic Clothes

Iris Van Herpen amazed me once again with her Couture SS 2017 collection – did she amazed you too? I mean, those diagonal cooper heels are quite a sight and I loved it!

Moving on to clothes, I liked how pieces from this collection embrace the body, so very personal and intimate. It is like skin, but it isn’t. The materials are sometimes see through yet looking blurry, jelly and up front synthetic.

It is another way of looking at clothes shapes and patterns , with distorted elements, however, with all the abstractivity that’s going on, the collection has a sensual vibe that I like.

Chanel Couture SS 2017 is the Perfect Collection for All Metallic Glam Lovers

Karl Lagerfeld showed, once again what beauty is at its highest, in the Chanel Couture SS 2017 show at Paris Fashion Week. The designer had in mind a metallic look for this collection, theme which dominated the show, including the interior design with mirror glossy floor and centered round sort of mirror.

Models presented the collection in silver pumps and over knee suede embellished boots. Belts from the show are shiny and placed bellow the breasts, this way the lower body looks long, despite all the layers and buffed shapes of the clothes.

Mettalic looking fabrics, details, embroidery and such are present throughout the collection, looking glam yet sort of futuristic. Gorgeous crafted lacy shoulder shawls are one of my favourite items, looking sophisticated and modern. Smashed top hats created a new type of movement for lovers of interesting ideas.

This is What They Wore at Chanel Couture SS 2017 Fashion Show

Chanel Couture fashion show for SS 2017 at Paris Fasion Week made the rounds of internet and as a result, here I am, covering in a Glaibera style, the glamorous event.

Let’s start off with some of the faces attending the show – celebrity names obviously. G-Dragon came wearing a sequin Chanel Cruise black beret, Chanel Earmuffs Embellished “CC” signature, white side-split sweater and black leather pants. Quite the artist, isn’t it?

Model Liu Wen looked casual-elegant in Chanel beige tweed jacket, printed jeans, black top and Chanel slingbacks.

Anna Mouglalis matched her beige coat with a lovely two piece Chanel ensemble jacket and mini skirt with lacy detail. I love her choice and it looks great on her figure!

Anamaria Vartolomei wore all black – black leather coat with white buttons and sort of bow illusion elastic detail at the collar, black jeans and Chanel ankle midi heel shoes.

At Ralph & Russo’s F/W Couture Fashion Show Hats Were The “Icing On The Cake”

Ralph & Russo‘s Haute Couture F/W show was a dream come true to any woman who loves to dress up, especially to those who like pretty dresses and autumnal prints. However, I think it scored even bigger by adding hats to some of the looks, making everything look outrageously sophisticated.

Super elegant outfits were accesorized with modern cloche hats that had high crown, having same autumnal print witht the outfit, where a print was involved, or snowy white with band and small flower on one side.

Long flowy dresses with autumnal prints, embroidery and sheer parts were accesorised with gorgeous same print large brim hats. Truly, a must and something to look for into the next seasons.
