Karl Lagerfeld Explores Ancient Egypt for Chanel 2018/19 Métiers d’art

Chanel fashion shows always are this great opportunity to take a moment for yourself and enjoy the finer things in life. This time around, the Paris New-York 2018/19 Métiers d’art show, presented at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on 4th December, took on a mission to explore the old days of Egypt. Hierglophyps, lots of gold accents, representative cuts and shapes (clothes-wise), makeup and hair, and the setup, all created a passage to going back in time.

Back to the clothes, I haven’t seen that much bright gold in a Chanel show ever! Collars, wristbands, hems, high knee boots and stylish shoes, trousers, tights, and jewelry. These are all pieces in this collection, that may come sometimes in other colors, but more than often, gold was the approach. The tweed costume might seem at first looking out of place next to the brightness of the gold, but the more you look, the better it stands. By the way, the costumes and singular pieces LOOK amazing! There’s also more color than usual, which is always a pleasent sight in a Chanel show.

Best Dressed and Styled at Golden Globes – Jessica Biel, Dakota Johnson and More

Black was the theme of the Golden Globes for this year’s edition, and even the story behind it is not one related to fashion, the black itself made everyone look really well, individually and as a whole. With this being said, this edition brought me a lot of enjoyment in choosing my favorite looks, which I’m about to unravel now. Read on and see if you agree with Glaibera’s choices!

BEST HAIR & MAKEUP

There is no doubt that best hair and makeup from the Golden Globes goes to Jessica Biel. The actress not only had one of the best dresses of the night but won my heart completely in the hairstyle department (yes, I do have in my heart such a department). Styled on one side lightly waved, away from the ears, it then goes at the back styled into a perfect half circle, falling like a nice curtain on the neck. Earrings are long but do not cross hair length, this emphasizing, even more, the perfection of this highly sophisticated hairstyle. Makeup is gentle, with extra long eyelashes and subtle rosy lips.

BEST DRESS

Dakota Johnson is my next most favorite, the actress looking delightful in the best dress of the night. The front looks neat, almost too neat until your eyes fall on her perfectly thought belt. Even with such a simplistic view, the dress is still a winner. Then the actress turned, revealing a crystal-embellished bow design, stunning and opposite looking to what was happening at the front. The bow slowly dies into a long, almost dark grayish train. For hair, we have a wavy, in line with ears ponytail paired with fine bangs, styled to look natural and fresh.

Just as nice:

Jessica Pare – The actress had one perfect look per whole. Hair is sleek, styled on one side and into an updo. The dress is a real piece of art, gorgeous, with flowers and well-thought straps.

Essence Atkins – See-through tulle long skirt and heavily embroidered top with feathered short sleeves.

Diane Kruger – As usual, a one of a kind fashionista that never disappoints. The actress wore a beaded gown with matching long cape. A sleek updo revealed the perfect bone structure of the actress.

Brittany Lopez – Hair down on one side, very organic looking. She was wearing simplistic strappy high heels and hearts and starts A-line embroidered tulle dress.

Sally Hawkins – Assimetrical mixed gown with velvety blouse top revealing one shoulder and ball skirt.

And then there were the hotties: Halle Berry and Kendall Jenner.

December 14 -15 Celebrity Fashion

Diane Kruger took her velvet blazer dress to ACRIA’s 22nd annual holiday dinner. The actress went for an all-black outfit, topped with a single white stripe at the sleeves and on her long fabric belt. She then added more light, by carrying with her a black clutch completely studded with pearls. Love it!

Singer Lena, who not long ago made my day by attending Chanel’s Metiers D’Art fashion show, as a front row face, was seen rocking just the other day a Kim Kardashian kind of look, with black top, track pants and boots, while performing live on stage at Huxleys, in Berlin. I like this approach on her.

I’m glad seeing Kylie Minogue in a different place other than on stage (not that I’m complaining). It happened in Melbourne at the premiere of her latest project, comedy movie ‘Swinging Safari’. Her look for the event is relaxed, trendy and fresh, with a good conversation between shoes and dress.

Singer and actress Maite Peroni made a delightful appearance on the red carpet while attending the premiere of musical drama ‘The Greatest Showman’, in Mexico City. Wouldn’t call myself exactly the biggest fan of her dress, but I will pretend I’m ok with it just because I like her. Rebelde anyone?

Francia Raisa’s flared and extraordinaire pants have made my day, cause they are just cool. Love how the waist is built, love the stripes, the colors, the shape and even the length. She wore them with a cropped top, just simple one, and some pretty red strappy heels, the classic style. And that’s how it’s done.

Although I’m not into these type of showy dresses, I’m gonna go and make a second exception for today, since Brittany Snow’s dress has those playful flowers placed nicely as a cover-up of some sort. It is such an innocent element, but it does so much to this dress, so much so that I will say yes to the dress. And besides, Britanny Snow is quite the charmer. In the end, it all works together well.
